Welcome to the 2018 inter-school chess competitions.
This year the Trust will be running Competitive team competitions in term 2 followed by Social and Girls' team competitions in term 3. These competitions are for teams of four players. The Competitive and Social team competitions are for Year 1-6 and Year 7-8 pupils. The Girls' team competitions are for Year 1-6, Year 7-8 and Year 9-13 pupils. Entries for the team competitions are now closed. Late entries are welcome and will be placed on a waiting list should additional space become available.
Top teams from the Competitive competitions will qualify to compete in the New Zealand Chess Federation's South Island and National Championships. Chess clocks will be used.
The Social team competitions are single day events with no progression to other events. i.e. Each group of teams will only play on one day. These competitions are run over multiple days as we get too many entries to be able to include everyone on the same day.
Pupils may play in both the term 2 and the term 3 team competitions.
Following the team competitions we will be running year group competitions for individual players. Entries for the individual competitions close on Friday 31 August.
The entry form and rules information is available at the bottom of this page.
